PROJECT OVERVIEW
Residency is a private home in Central Jakarta designed around a single purpose: to create a dwelling that feels calm without feeling empty. Across 690 square meters, every space is shaped to support the rhythms of daily life — rest, gathering, and solitude — without one bleeding into the other.

THE CHALLENGE
Large homes often lose their warmth. Too open, and a space feels like a gallery; too closed, and it becomes a series of disconnected boxes. The challenge was designing a residence that holds privacy and togetherness within a single continuous floor plan — without partitions that divide, and without rooms that feel isolated.

DESIGN PROCESS
We started by understanding the occupants' daily rhythm — when they need stillness, when they come together, and how natural light moves through the home across the day. Rather than dividing space by function, we let texture and ceiling height guide the transitions. Materials were chosen for how they feel: warm oak, cool concrete, and glass that draws light in without sacrificing privacy.

THE SOLUTION
The result is a home that reads as one continuous space but behaves as many. Natural light enters from the east each morning and shifts west through the afternoon, quietly changing the character of each area as the day moves. Social life unfolds at the open core; private spaces retreat to the perimeter. The neutral palette keeps everything calm — letting the people who live here become the most important detail.
